J. Matthew Sanders

Matt grew up in Macon, attending Stratford Academy. He then graduated from the University of Vermont with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Matt earned his law degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta.

During law school, Matt interned with Judge Tilman E. Self, III at the Bibb County Superior Court and with Judge Stephen L.A. Dillard at the Georgia Court of Appeals. 

After law school, Matt began working in private practice focusing solely on family law cases at the Law Firm of Carmel W. Sanders. In 2020, Matt went on to practice family law in Boulder, Colorado at the firm of K. Scott Hamerslough, P.C. Matt returned to Macon with his family in 2022 and opened J. Matthew Sanders, LLC in order to focus exclusively on Georgia family law cases. 

Matt works to further each client’s goals and needs in family law litigation. He enjoys his role as both attorney and counselor to clients. He also understands that while family law cases often settle out of Court, a zealous attorney is necessary when cases cannot be settled. 

Matt lives in Macon with his wife, son, and two dogs. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, biking, traveling, and playing golf.
